Summary

This document provides circuit design guidelines for enhancing 3-phase IGBT inverter robustness using UCC23711 and UCC23710 isolated gate drivers featuring configurable DESAT (6.5V/9V). It details the optimization of input resistor configurations, peak output currents, DESAT protection, active Miller clamping, and supply decoupling for both unipolar and bipolar setups. All design parameters are validated via empirical testing on a 3-phase IGBT inverter prototype at a 550V DC bus. Leveraging SiO₂ isolation and opto-compatible inputs, the UCC23711 and UCC23710 gate drivers enable seamless integration into legacy optocoupler applications, while offering lower propagation delay and higher CMTI.
