PRODUCTION DATA
The TCAN241x-Q1 has a watchdog error counter. This counter is an up down counter that increments for every missed window or incorrect input watchdog trigger event. For every correct input trigger, the counter decrements but does not drop below zero. The default configuration for this counter is to trigger a watchdog error for every missed trigger (limit set to 0). This counter can be configured at register 8'h16[7:4] to set a higher limit, up to 15, for the incorrect input triggers . The register 8'14[4:1] provides the running count of watchdog errors.
Once the programmed WD error counter limit is exceeded, the device transitions to restart mode which pulls nRST low for tNRST_TOG and LIMP pin is activated. The error counter resets back to 0 at this point. Once tNRST_TOG times out, the device transitions back to standby mode releasing nRST high. If the WD failure causes the restart counter to exceed the programmed limit, the device transitions to either fail-safe mode if enabled or to sleep mode.
