PRODMIX
The STAB (stability) pin of the TPS7H1121 is designed to provide direct access to the error amplifier of the controller. Insertion into the control circuitry of the LDO facilitates detailed stability analysis and fine tuning of the stability performance of the LDO.
The TPS7H1121 has a wide envelope in which typical gain and phase margin is in excess of 6dB and 50º (with output capacitance ranging from 22μF ≤ COUT ≤ 220μF). However, external compensation is provided using the STAB pin in which the RCOMP and CCOMP network can be utilized to further optimize the stability performance of the TPS7H1121 if desired. TI recommends that an external network is applied for low COUT applications or for special concerns in which maximum stability margin is necessary. For further details on how to implement Type II and III Compensation, view section Section 9.2.2.9 or Demystifying Type II and Type III Compensators Using OpAmp and OTA for DC/DC Converters.
