Overview

This reference design provides a three-phase inverter rated up to 10 kW designed using the reinforced isolated gate driver UCC21530, reinforced isolated amplifiers AMC1301 and AMC1311 and MCU TMS320F28027. Lower system cost is achieved by using the AMC1301 to measure motor current interfaced with internal ADC of MCU and use of bootstrap power supply for IGBT gate drivers. The inverter is designed to have protection against overload, short circuit, ground fault, DC bus undervoltage and overvoltage, and IGBT module over temperature.

  • Reinforced isolated inverter suited for 200-V to 690-V AC drives rated up to 10 kW
  • Simple yet effective gate driver with 4-A source, 6-A sink output current capability
  • Reinforced isolated amplifier with high bandwidth (> 200 kHz) for inverter current, DC bus voltage and IGBT module temperature measurement; enables use of internal ADC or MCU
  • Calibrated current measurement accuracy of ±0.5 % across temperature range from -25˚C to 85˚C
  • Protection against DC bus undervoltage, overvoltage, overload, ground fault and over-temperature
  • Bootstrap-based power supply for high-side gate driver reduces overall cost for power supply requirements
