8.5.3.1 Support for PCB Temperature up to 105°C

The device can maintain a safe junction temperature below the recommended maximum value of 125°C even when operated on a PCB with a maximum board temperature (TPCB) of 105°C. This can shown by the following example calculation, which assumes the total device power (PTOTAL) computed with all blocks enabled using the typical current consumption from the Electrical Characteristics (VDD = 3.3V, VDDO = 1.8V) and the thermal data in the Thermal Information with no airflow.

Equation 19. TJ = TPCB + (ΨJB × PTOTAL) = 113.8°C

where

  • TPCB = 105°C
  • ΨJB = 4.4°C/W
  • PTOTAL = PCORE + POUTPUT = 2.0W
    • PCORE = (18 + 38 + 20 + 110 + 120)mA × 3.3V = 1.01W
      • DPLL, APLL1, APLL2, and all Inputs enabled
