Daisy Chain Mode

Multiple TMUXS130xA can be chained together to operate similarly to a shift register. All SPI pins are shared across all devices in the chain, but the SDO pin is connected to the SDI of the next device in the chain. Daisy chain mode is entered by sending the command "0x57" (or "0x7D" with CRC), and an additional 0x00 for every device in the chain. For example, if there are three devices: 0x570000 is sent, 4 is 0x57000000, and so forth. When multiple devices are configured in hardware to be in daisy chain mode, the first command sent is expected to be the daisy chain mode entry command. As the first device is entering daisy chain mode, the device is simultaneously sending out "0xC0" for the first eight bits indicating no SPI errors, and then relays the daisy chain command to enter the next device into daisy chain mode. After the series of devices is in daisy chain mode, the CS pin must be pulled low to send switch state commands.

The SDO pin acts as an 8-cycle delayed SDI of the same device. After all devices in the chain have received a switch state command and the CS pin is pulled high, each device enters the switch states that are assigned to the device. While in daisy chain mode, all commands only target the switch state registers so configuration registers are unavailable. For each TMUXS1306A in the daisy chain, the command sent must have 4 bits to indicate which switch from each device is enabled. For TMUXS1307A, the daisy chain the command sent must have 8 bits to indicate which switch from each device is enabled where 0bx000x000 the 3 MSBs represent channel A (Switches 0-7) and LSBs represent channel B (Switches 8-15) and the "x" are "Don't Care". To leave daisy chain mode, a power cycle of VDD is necessary.
