SNLS484J February 2015 – June 2026 DP83867CR , DP83867IR
PRODUCTION DATA
When configured for Magic Packet mode, the DP83867 scans all incoming frames addressed to the node for a specific data sequence. This sequence identifies the frame as a Magic Packet frame.
The Magic Packet must be byte aligned.
A Magic Packet frame must also meet the basic requirements for the LAN technology selected, such as SOURCE ADDRESS, DESTINATION ADDRESS (which can be the receiving IEEE address of the station). DP83867PHY supports Unicast only for Magic Packet Detection.
The specific Magic Packet sequence consists of 16 duplications of the IEEE address of this node, with no breaks or interruptions, followed by secure-on password if security is enabled. Locate this sequence anywhere within the packet; a synchronization stream must proceed the sequence. The synchronization stream is defined as 6 bytes of FFh.
