The primary cost of the multi-antenna configuration lies in the escalation of hardware complexity. First, it requires deploying multiple antennas on the device and designing an RF Switch to achieve switching between different antenna paths, which increases PCB area and BOM costs. Second, multiple antennas mean that more RF paths need to be calibrated to eliminate phase deviations introduced by circuit differences between the paths. In addition, because IQ data needs to be collected and exchanged from multiple antenna paths during the Channel Sounding process, a larger volume of data needs to be exchanged between devices to complete distance estimation. Finally, the multi-antenna configuration places higher demands on antenna layout and isolation design, which requires careful trade-offs in compact products.
