7.3.2.2 External Reference

Connect an external reference voltage, as shown in Figure 7-4, at the REFIO pin with an appropriate decoupling capacitor placed between the REFIO and REFM pins. For improved thermal drift performance, use the REF7040. To disable the internal reference, set PD_REF = 11b in address 0x0C in register bank 1 as described in the Reference section. The REFIO pin has electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection diodes connected to the AVDD and REFM pins.
