VTM module

The VTM (Voltage Thermal management) module provides control, status, and interrupt and event generation functions related to integrated temperature sensors and user-programmed thermal events. In chip thermal management, we primarily focus on its functions of temperature measurement, as well as issuing early warnings and interrupts. The figure below is the internal connection diagram of the VTM module within the chip. Since the VTM may directly initiate instructions to reset the entire chip, it also has a direct connection to the reset controller of the entire chip. At the same time, the VTM also contains a set of memory-mapped registers used to store device-specific operating voltages (AVSVNOM) set during device testing. These values can be used by the system AVS software to adjust the operating voltage of the device to achieve optimal operating conditions (balance between power consumption and performance).

There are numerous PN series SoC chips within the entire TI SoC family, among which the system connection methods of the VTM are all similar. The VTM is also generally located in the wake-up domain (WKUP) of the chip. This domain is the first to start working when the chip boots up. Temperature management steps into operation immediately upon chip power-on to ensure the normal operation and lifespan of the entire chip.
