Setting Overcurrent Threshold Example

For example, to set a desired overcurrent threshold to IOC = ±120A on bidirectional TMCS1143A5A and TMCS1143B5A devices along with the unidirectional TMCS1143C5A device, with ±96A, ±62A and -9.2A to 114A full-scale linear input measurement ranges respectively as shown in the Device Comparison table, size resistors R1 and R2 to apply a voltage VOC = 1.2V to the VOC pin according to Equation 21.

with

  • TMCS1143A5A, TMCS1143B5A and TMCS1143C5A device sensitivity, S = 0.025V/A.
  • Desired overcurrent threshold, IOC = ±120A.
  • Applied overcurrent threshold voltage VOC = 1.2V.
