Connecting to an External Controller

Complete the following steps to connect an external controller with the ADS124S18EVM:

  1. Unplug the USB cable from the PAMB controller card.
  2. Disconnect the ADS124S18EVM from the PAMB controller card.
  3. Connect SPI digital signals from the ADS124S18EVM to the external controller board. Refer to Section 2.3 and Section 2.4 for details.
  4. Connect the AVDD/IOVDD and the ground from the ADS124S18EVM to the external controller board. Refer to Section 2.1 for details.
  5. Connect the sensor signal to the ADS124S18EVM. Refer to Section 2.2 for details.
  6. Install resistor R19 and connector J6, remove resistor R21 as shown in Section 5.1, then connect an external clock source to connector J6 as a main clock for the ADS124S18 when using the CLK_SEL bit in ADC_CFG register to select an external clock source. This is an optional step when using an external controller with the ADS124S18EVM.
  7. Develop and run the corresponding software in the external controller to communicate with the ADS124S18EVM.
