Flash Security Configuration

The flash security configuration policies specify which sectors of flash memory are locked from modification, which sectors are set to security protection, and which sectors are set to privilege protection. There are three types of protection: static write erase protection, security protection, and privilege protection.

Static write erase protection can be applied to the MAIN flash memory, DATA flash memory, and NONMAIN flash memory. Static write protection enables the placement of a fixed, user-defined application, data, or NONMAIN configuration in the flash memory that has the following characteristics:

  1. Once programmed and locked, the locked sectors are not modifiable by the application code or ROM bootloader.
  2. If placed at the beginning of the flash memory, the application is the first code that executes when the ROM boot configuration routine transfers execution to the user application.
Note: When the DSSM command generates a mass erase or factory reset, the command overrides the specified static write protection policy. In contrast, the BSL command does not generate an override, and the corresponding protected flash area remains unchanged.

Security protection and privilege protection can only be applied to MAIN flash memory and DATA flash memory. Security protection defines the range of the secure region. Any code and data in the secure region is protected from the non-secure region. Privilege protection defines the range of the privilege region. Any code and data in the privilege region is protected from the non-privilege region.

Note: For the secure and non-secure partition on MSPM33, final secure attribute depends on not only GSC configuration but also SAU and IDAU setting. Please refer to Enable Trustzone for Secure Application in MSPM33 MCUsfor detailed configuration.
