Design Requirements

The XTR100 is primarily intended to be used in building 4mA – 20mA transmitters. Design goals include high accuracy, and low current consumption. Table 7-7 lists typical design requirements for generic 4mA – 20mA transmitter.

The valid output range of the transmitter is 4mA – 20mA. However, many transmitters generate lower than 4mA or higher than 20mA current to indicate errors to the receiver.

Table 7-6 Design Parameters
PARAMETER VALUE
Input voltage range VINP 0V to 2.5V
Loop voltage VLOOP range 12V to 27V
Valid loop current ILOOP range 4mA to 20mA
Loop current ILOOP maximum 24mA
Loop current ILOOP error levels 3.375mA, and 21.75mA
Supply voltage 3.3V
Operating temperature range –40°C to 125°C
