PWM Signals

PWM1 and PWM2 pins output the on-time signals to the power stage of the buck converter. The outputs of the controller are 5V logic signals that can be utilized with DrMOS compatible power stages. Each of these output signals is meant to drive a single power stage. The output signals have three distinct states: logic high, logic low, and a tri-state voltage (typically 1.7V). Table 7-3 below describes the expected behavior of the driver or logic stage that corresponds to each PWMx controller output state:

Table 7-3 PWMx Output States
LOGIC LEVEL POWER STAGE RESPONSE
High High-side FET is ON and low-side FET is OFF
Low High-side FET is OFF and low-side FET is ON
Tri-state (mid-level) Both FETs are OFF

When the controller is disabled, the outputs are in tri-state. Thus, as discussed in Section 7.3.9.1, the first transition during soft-start is from the tri-state to logic high each time the controller is enabled.

PWM2 can be disabled if only single phase operation is required for the controller. To disable the second controller output, CS2_N needs to be connected to VLDO. CS2_P can also be connected to VLDO in this state.
