Single Feedback Method

For small Rdamp:

  • Less phase lag in feedback loop
  • Higher loop bandwidth
  • Faster transient response

For Rdamp = 0

  • Ringing due to high Q factor of the resulting LC network
  • Circuit can become unstable regardless of loop design

Equation 11 calculates the effective limits for Rdamp.

Equation 11. 2×CeffLgate<Rdamp<12π×BW×Ceff

In this calculation, Lgate represents the parasitic inductance in the gate-drive path. Selecting Rdamp as 5Ω is a good enough to measure as there is no under damping and oscillations in the gate path and all the calculations of Ceff are done with respect to Rdamp = 5Ω. For this design choosing Rdamp as 5Ω is a good measure. Based on validation and simulation, Rsense can be tuned further.
