The LM708x0 is
a family of
low-IQ, wide-VIN synchronous buck converters designed for
an input voltage range of 4.5V to 80V
and delivering up to 8A of output current
at fixed output voltages of 3.3V, 5V, 12V, or an adjustable output.
The LM708x0 uses a peak current-mode control architecture for easy loop
compensation, fast transient response, and excellent load and line regulation. A
pair of LM708x0 converters can be set up in an
interleaved mode (paralleled outputs) with accurate current sharing for applications
requiring up to 16A of output
current.
The LM708x0 features a
unique Dual Random Spread Spectrum (DRSS) function that combines low-frequency
triangular and high-frequency cycle-by-cycle random modulations for improved EMI
performance across a wide range of frequency bands.
Additional features of the LM708x0 include user-selectable diode emulation for
lower current consumption at light-load conditions, open-drain Power-Good flag for
fault reporting and output monitoring, precision enable input, monotonic start-up
into prebiased load, integrated VCC bias supply regulator, internal 2.8ms soft-start
time, and thermal shutdown protection with automatic recovery.
The LM708x0 converter comes in a 6mm × 6mm thermally-optimized, 29-pin QFN
package. The three die-attach pads (VIN, SW, and PGND) improve thermal performance
and board level reliability (BLR).
