'C24x Control Area Networking (CAN) Module

CAN Module
The TMS320F241, 'F243, 'LF2407, 'LF2406, and 'LC2406 devices include a CAN controller.

The CAN (Controller Area Network) communications protocol is used to manage data transfers between controllers, sensors, actuators and a variety of other interfaces. The multi-master serial bus is implemented over low-cost simple twisted-pair copper wires, where each node can transmit messages to other CAN nodes. Messages contain an identifier used for filtering and priority.

The CAN module provides an attractive price/performance ratio by offering excellent reliability (sophisticated error detection), high flexibility (easy addition and removal of CAN nodes), standardization, and real-time capabilities (fast transmission, up to 1Mbit/s).

Features:

  • Full CAN controller
  • 16-bit peripheral
  • Specification 2.0B active
    • Send and accept standard (11-bit identifier) and extended frames (29-bit identifier)
  • 6 mailboxes for object of 0 to 8 bytes data length
    • 2 receive mailboxes (mailboxes 0 &1)
    • 2 transmit mailboxes (mailboxes 4 & 5)
    • 2 configurable transmit/receive mailboxes (mailboxes 2 & 3)
  • Self test mode
    • The CAN controller receive its own transmitted messages
  • Programmable bit rate
  • Programmable global masks
  • Programmable interrupt scheme
