'C24x Serial Communication Interface (SCI)

Serial Communication Interface (SCI)
All TMS320C24x devices include a serial communications interface (SCI) module, which supports full duplex transfers using the RS-232 and RS-485 industry standards.

The SCI receiver and transmitter are double buffered, and each has it own separate enable and interrupt bits. Both may be operated independently or simultaneously in the full duplex mode. To ensure data integrity, the SCI checks receive data for break detection, parity, overrun and framing errors. The bit rate is programmable to over 65,000 different speeds through a 16-bit baud select register, with a maximum rate of 1.8Mbits/s.

Features:

  • Asynchronous Communication Format (NRZ)
  • Programmable Baud rates
  • Programmable Data word length from 1 to 8 bits
  • Programmable Stop bits of either 1 or 2 bits in length
  • Error detection flags:
    • Parity, Overrun, Framing, and Break detect errors
  • Two Wake-Up multiprocessor modes
    • Idle Line Wake-Up
    • Address Bit Wake-Up
  • Half- or Full- Duplex operation
  • Double buffered receive and transmit functions
  • Separate transmitter and receiver interrupts
  • Separate enable bits for transmitter and receive interrupt
