1-µA capacitive grip detection based on MSP430™ microcontrollers

This application note discusses a grip detection design using two capacitive touch sensors that utilize the PinOsc feature available on all MSP430G2xx2 and MSP430G2xx3 value line devices. The PinOsc feature integrated into every MSP430G2xx2 and MSP430G2xx3 device eliminates the need for external components when implementing capacitive touch sensors and offers an average current consumption as low as 1 µA per button.

USB keyboard using MSP430™ microcontrollers

This application report describes a low-cost, highly-flexible composite USB keyboard implementation based on MSP430F5xx/MSP430F6xx families. Schematics and software are included allowing for an easy implementation and customization.

Multiple time bases on a single MSP430™ timer module

The timer modules on MSP430™ ultra-low-power microcontrollers often base several different outputs off of a single time base in a single timer period. In exchange for a small amount of software overhead, multiple time bases can be implemented on a single MSP430 timer module, allowing for more features to be implemented on a simpler MSP430 device.

Micrium RTOS examples for MSP430™ MCUs now available

Lauterbach PowerDebug now supports MSP430™ MCUs

MSP430 MCUs are now supported by Lauterbach’s TRACE32® PowerDebug for both the Spy-Bi-Wire and 4-Wire JTAG interface. Fast high-level and assembler debugging in single core or daisy chained setups of multiple MSP430 MCUs is available. The Debug features incorporate Flash programming of different compiler formats such as ICC430 (IAR Systems AB) and CCS (Texas Instruments) as well as real-time operating system awareness. The bundled kit contains a complete TI Hercules TMDXRM48HDK kit, IAR J-Link Lite, IAR DVD with IAR SW tools, IAR Getting Started Guide, as well as TI software, device information and links to the TI website for software/documentation updates.
