U-166 An Off-Line Lead Acid Charger Based on the UC3909

The UC3906 charge-control IC for sealed lead-acid batteries manages both the output voltage and current of the charger. This application note describes an isolated switch-mode charging circuit for lead-acid batteries that uses the UC3909 and operates from a 115VAC circuit.
