Histogram Display

Figure 2-6 shows the histogram analysis tool. Noise degrades ADC resolution and the histogram tool can be used to estimate effective resolution. The cumulative effect of noise coupling to the ADC output from sources such as the input drive circuits, reference drive circuit, ADC power supply, and the ADC is reflected in the standard deviation of the ADC output code histogram. The histogram is obtained by performing multiple conversions of an input applied to a given channel. The histogram corresponding to an input is displayed by clicking the Capture button.
