9.2.1 High Efficiency, Wide Input, 400kHz, Synchronous Buck Regulator

Figure 9-3 shows the schematic diagram of a single-output, synchronous, buck regulator with I2C interface, which provides maximum output voltages of 12V and a rated load current of 8A. In this example, the target full-load efficiencies at 48V input is 96%. The regulator is designed for 400kHz switching frequency.

Note: Depending on the source impedance of the input supply bus, an electrolytic capacitor can be required at the input to make sure of stability, particularly at low input voltage and high output current operating conditions.
