Understanding isolation rating
The terms galvanic, basic and reinforced are commonly used to describe isolation voltage ratings.
- Galvanic: Provides electrical insulation between circuits to address ground potential differences.
- Basic: A certified layer of protection against electrical shock. Ideal for systems with additional protective measures. Basic isolation delivers dependable performance while the insulation remains intact.
- Reinforced: A more robust certified insulation system that delivers the equivalent protection of two independent isolation elements, combining basic and supplementary protections. Rated for direct contact environments, eliminating the need for additional protective measures.
