Direct RF-Sampling Radar Receiver for L-, S-, C-, and X-Band Using ADC12DJ3200 Reference Design

This reference design uses the ADC12DJ3200 evaluation module (EVM) to demonstrate a direct RF-sampling receiver for a radar operating in HF, VHF, UHF, L-, S-, C- and part of X-band. The wide analog-input bandwidth and high-sampling rate (6.4 GSPS) of the analog-to-digital converter (ADC) provides multiband coverage with a single or dual ADC. The direct RF-sampling capabilities of the ADC reduce the component count by eliminating several down-conversion stages, thereby reducing overall system complexity.

  • High-input-frequency capability of ADC allows RF sampling of signals from L-band to X-band
  • Max sample rate of 6.4 GSPS in single-channel (interleaved) mode and 3.2 GSPS in dual-channel mode
  • Four independent NCOs per DDC allow fast-frequency hopping among bands
  • Clocking optimized for low jitter and JESD204B operation
