PRODUCTION DATA
TPS61383-Q1 supports external PMOS driver function with the STATUS pin. The STATUS pin operates as an 70µA pulldown current source to drive the ISO switch connected to the car main battery (shown in Figure 6-1).
Set DRV_CONTROL bit (Register 0DH, Bit 1) 0 to apply automatic control over the PMOS driver. When the device Vout drops to the wake up threshold and the device enters boost mode, the DRV pin becomes open and the ISO switch is turned off to prevent reverse current into car main battery. As the device quits boost mode , the DRV pin sinks 70µA to turn on the PMOS.
Set DRV_CONTROL bit (Register 0DH, Bit 1) 1 to apply manual control over the PMOS driver. The driver output follows the I2C DRV_OUT bit (Register 0DH, Bit 0). Set DRV_OUT bit high when you need to turn on the ISO FET, the STATUS pin sink 70µA to turn on the PMOS.
The resistance on RGS is calculated as:
The PMOS driver turn-off speed can be over 50us depending on PMOS Qg parameter and RGS value. So check whether the 12V battery is robust enough to withstand temporary reverse current before PMOS fully turns off.
