The LM65680/60/40 operational input voltage range is from 3.5V to 65V. The device is intended for step-down conversions from 24V, 48V, and 60V supply rails. Figure 7-1 shows all the necessary components to implement an LM65680/60/40-based wide-VIN step-down regulator from a single input supply. The LM65680/60/40 uses an internal LDO subregulator to provide a VCC bias rail of 3.3V for the gate drive and control circuits.
In applications with high input voltage, take extra care to make sure that the VIN pins (VIN1 and VIN2) and the SW pins (SW1, SW2, SW3) of the converter do not exceed the absolute maximum voltage rating of 72V during line or load transient events. Voltage excursions that exceed the applicable voltage specifications can damage the device.
