Figure 3-14 illustrates the fully distributed power supply architecture in traction inverter. In this configuration, each gate driver is powered by its own individual isolated bias power supply device. This approach requires six separate isolated bias supply devices to power the six isolated gate drivers in a three-phase inverter. The primary advantage of this fully redundant solution is its enhanced fault tolerance: the system can still enter the appropriate safe state even if any individual bias power supply circuit fails. This eliminates the single point of failure concern present in centralized architectures, making the fully distributed approach particularly suitable for high ASIL applications where fault tolerance is critical.
