Operation Mode

The TPS63822 and TPS638221 have three different operation modes of pulse-frequency modulation (PFM) mode, forced pulse-width modulation (FPWM) mode and ultra-sonic mode. These modes are configured by the MODE pin as follows.

  • MODE pin = logic low: PFM mode
  • MODE pin = logic high: FPWM mode
  • MODE pin = floating: ultrasonic mode

To reduce power consumption, the status of the MODE pin is read during startup and then latched. Once the device has started operating, any changes to the MODE pin are ignored.
