ADVANCE INFORMATION
TIOM2212 provides two L+ supply controllers – one for each channel. Each L+ supply is generated using a single NFET transistor. The gate of the external NFET is actively controlled to provide current limiting, auto-retry functionality and L+ undervoltage detection functionality. L+ supplies are reverse voltage tolerant and support DC voltages up to ±65V and transient voltages up to ±70V.
A sense resistor, RSENSE, can be connected between the Sx and VCCx pins to enable the device to sense current through the L+ path. The current through the sense resistor is actively controlled to ILIM = VTH/RSENSE. A default threshold of VTH = 15mV is set across the sense resistor. This threshold can be configured using LP_CFG0 register (LP_CLIM bits) to one of the following values: 15mV, 30mV, 60mV or 120mV.
Each channel's L+ supply controller can be individually enabled using the LP_GATE_DRV_EN bit in the LP_CFG1 register for the corresponding channels. If it is desired to use a separate supply controller, the LP_GATE_HIZ bit can be set high. This bit disables all functionality related to current sense, but the device will still sense and handle UVLO events on the L+ node.
