Digital Signal Processor

The TAS2573 has an on-chip, low-latency DSP supporting Texas Instruments' Smart Amp Audio Tuning, Speaker Protection and Advanced Battery Guard algorithms to maximize audio quality, bass and loudness while maintaining safe speaker conditions.

The Audio Tuning Algorithms supported in the TAS2573 are EQ (Equalizer Filters with 13-bands), DRC (Dynamic Range Compressor with 3-bands), DEQ (Dynamic Equalizer with 2-bands) and Rattle Suppressor.

The Speaker Protection Algorithm monitors the loudspeaker health real-time using integrated IV-Sense and controls the audio to maximize bass and loudness content while preventing any damage to the speaker due to excessive diaphragm movement (excursion protection) or due to over heating of the voice coil (thermal protection). The Advanced Battery Guard Algorithm manages peak output power delivery while avoiding any audio distortion when the battery capacity is depleting.

The TAS2573 has on-chip Factory Calibration routine to accurately determine the temperature of the loudspeaker while accounting for varations in the voice coil resistance. The Factory Calibration routine can also identify loudspeaker manufacturing defects by comparing loudspeaker parameters for pass/fail limits as well as determining open and shorted loudspeaker coils.

The Audio Tuning, Speaker Protection and Advanced Battery Guard algorithms can be enabled and tuned using the PPC3 Software Section 6.4.1.

The Audio Tuning, Speaker Protection and Advanced Battery Guard algorithms are supported only for sample rate = 48KHz.
