C2000 real-time microcontrollers – Applications
Electric vehicles
C2000™ real-time control MCUs enable advanced power control technology for the electrification of vehicles. Most devices are available as AEC-Q100-qualified and are being used for both motor and power control applications:
Digital Power technology
- Charging stations (AC/DC)
- DC/DC power conversion
- Onboard charging
- AC Output
Motor Control technology
- Traction or propulsion motors
- Auxiliary motors
- Power steering

Industrial drives and automation
C2000’s Industrial Drives applications initiative - DesignDRIVE - offers support for a wide variety of motor types, sensing technologies, encoder standards and communications networks, as well as easy expansion to develop with real-time Ethernet communications and functional safety topologies, enabling more comprehensive, integrated system solutions. This technology can be found in many industrial applications including AC and servo drives for robotic manufacturing, computer numeric controlled (CNC) machinery, elevators, materials conveyance and other industrial automation equipment.

Digital power
C2000 real-time control MCUs have the critical computational performance, analog speed and accuracy, and flexible high resolution pulse-width-modulation generation required for the high frequency control loops for digital power control in applications like solar inverters, charging infrastructure, telecom and server power, UPS, battery test equipment, and industrial power supplies. Fundamental building blocks as well as cutting edge topology examples are provide through EVMs, reference designs, and innovative powerSUITE™ software.

Motor control
Motor control is a key technology space for C2000 real-time control MCUs, with over 20 years of volume shipments in appliances, fans, pumps, compressors, tools, exercise equipment, drones, aviation, medical equipment, and a wide variety of other general motor controllers. Fundamental software building blocks are provided for control experts while InstaSPIN solutions are available for those who want the control expertise provided so they can focus on their overall application.

Sensing & Signal Processing
Sensing and Signal Processing applications require an excitation of the system, precise and high speed capture of real-world signals, and efficient processing and analysis of that data. C2000 real-time control MCUs offer a portfolio of compatible products with the right acquisition, DSP processing, and stimulation capability.

GaN & SiC
The growing need to use energy more efficiently has driven advanced
development of technologies such as gallium nitride (GaN) and silicon carbide (SiC).
These devices can operate at higher switching frequencies and offer greater
power density, efficiency, and reliability, resulting in products that are
smaller, lighter, and run cooler. Paired with precision sensing, powerful
processing, premium actuation and built-in cycle-by-cycle protection, C2000
real-time controllers are designed specifically for high switching frequency
applications and enable engineers to create more efficient and reliable high
power systems.
