Overview

The TIDM-02010 reference design is a 1.5-kW dual motor drive and PFC control reference design for varaible frequency air conditioner outdoor unit controller in HVAC applications, which illustrates a method to implement sensorless 3-phase PMSM vector control for compressor and fan motor drive, and digital interleaved boost PFC for meeting new efficiency standards with a single C2000™ microcontroller. The hardware and software available with this reference design are tested and ready-to-use to help accelerate development time to market. The reference design includes hardware design files and software codes.

Features
  • Wide operating voltage input range: 165 V to 265 VAC, 50/60 Hz
  • Sensorless-FOC for compressor and fan motors plus digital interleaved PFC boost converter control using a single C2000 controller
  • Up to 1.5-kW inverter stage, 6-kHz switching frequency, torque compensation and automatic field weakening control for compressor PMSM
  • Up to 150-W inverter stage, 18-kHz switching frequency for fan PMSM, stall detection with auto recovery, flying start and over current protections
  • Up to 1.5-kW power output, 72-kHz switching frequency, digital control interleaved boost PFC with power factor >0.95 and <5% THD from medium to full load over entire operating voltage range, robust adjustable voltage output with voltage and current fault protection

A fully assembled board has been developed for testing and performance validation only, and is not available for sale.

MotorControl SDK for C2000™ real-time control microcontrollers (MCU) is a cohesive set of software infrastructure, tools, and documentation designed to minimize C2000 MCU based motor control system development time targeted for various three-phase motor control applications.

What's new

  • New: Added F280013x example for TIDM-02010: Dual motor control with digital interleaved PFC for HVAC reference design. All TIDM-02010 projects have been updated to support single-shunt current sensing.
  • New: Added Universal Motor Control Lab projects for F280013x and F28003x. Universal Lab for all devices has been updated to support DRV8329AEVM.
  • New: Added sensored FOC servo control with CAN interface example project for the F28003x.
  • New: Added software for TIDM-02012: High-voltage EV/HEV HVAC eCompressor motor control reference design. An example project is provided for the F28003x.
  • Updated TIDM-1011 T-Format absolute encoder interface to improve performance, ease of use, and utilization of new hardware features. Now supports devices F28003x, F28004x, F2837x, and F2838x.
  • Updated C2000Ware to version 4.02.00.00
