Cell Voltage Sensing

Cell voltage sensing traces (VC pins and CB pins) shall be placed in parallel with impedance matching.

The balancing traces (CB pins) are sized properly to carry the maximum balancing current and make sure of proper thermal performance for the application.

TI recommends to use separate cables, connector tabs, and PCB traces for the BAT pin and top VC pin connection. The same applies to the AVSS and VC0 connections. This is to avoid the device current impacting the top and bottom cell voltage measurements.

If the same cable and connector tab are used for the BAT or top VC pins connections and AVSS or VC0 pins connections, then the PCB trace going to the BAT or top VC pins and AVSS or VC0 pins are separated at the connector tabs. The device current goes through the cell to the PCB cable, which can introduce IR error across the cable connection to the top and bottom cell measurements.
