- Oscilloscope with appropriate
probing: confirm rail bounce, ringing frequency, edge rate, and timing. Use a
short ground spring or differential probe; a long probe ground can create false
ringing
- Spectrum analyzer or FFT
receiver: identify spectral peaks and compare changes after controlled
modifications
- Near-field E- and H-probes:
localize high-dv/dt nodes and high-di/dt loops without claiming absolute
compliance levels
- RF current probe: identify
common-mode current on cables, harnesses, and shield bonds.
- Impedance or network measurement:
characterize filters, PDN resonances, and component behavior in the relevant
frequency range
Tip: Change one variable at a
time and record the operating mode, cable placement, load, bandwidth, detector
settings, and probe position. A repeatable relative measurement is more useful than
an absolute number from an uncontrolled setup.
