PLC, DCS & PAC

Design high-performance programmable logic controller (PLC) systems with our analog and embedded processing products

Designing PLC systems for factories often include requirements such as a high number of input/output channels in a small space, high throughput and high reliability. Our products enable density and efficiency, along with support for communication standards such as Time-Sensitive Network (TSN) with up to 1 Gbit/s. We can also help you build reliable systems according to the IEC 61508 standard using TI Functional Safety-Compliant devices and documentation.

Why choose TI for your PLC, DCS & PAC designs?

Engineering smarter programmable logic controller (PLC) applications

Communication between PLCs and I/O modules

Real-time communication interfaces such as Profinet and EtherCAT enable precise, time-sensitive communication between PLCs and input/output modules. By combining real-time Arm® cores and programmable real-time logic into one package, our multicore processors offer the right combination of high performance and general-purpose processing. The programmable real-time unit industrial communication subsystem (PRU-ICSS) supports most industrial communication protocols as well as Time-Sensitive Network (TSN), along with the ability to handle gigabit speeds.

We cover the entire evolution of field communication, from 4-20 mA with HART to IO-Link, and support technologies such as Single-Pair Ethernet (SPE) with data rates as high as 1 Gbit/s.

Design durable, small, high-density I/O modules

I/O modules serve as the electrical and physical interface between programmable logic controllers and field sensors/actuators. There are often hundreds of I/O modules on a factory floor, necessitating such requirements as protected terminals and a high channel count per module. Our industrial-grade, power-efficient and size-optimized components work well in such harsh environments.

Along with traditional I/O modules, we also support universal I/O modules and stand-alone remote I/O modules.
