7.4.1.11 Ethernet MDI (Medium Dependent Interface) Including Magnetics

In case the EPHY and MDI (copper or fiber) interface including the magnetics and the RJ45 connector are implemented on the processor board, the recommendation is to follow the EVM or SK implementation for MDI interface connections, recommended magnetics (recommending using the magnetic used on the EVM or SK or similar) and connection of RJ45 connector shield to circuit ground. Provision for external ESD protection is recommended.
